Mary Lee
Secretary
Mary Lee is a long time De Smet resident who married a local boy and raised her family in the area. She and husband Roger live on the family farm south of De Smet raising corn, soybeans, and stock cattle. They have three grown children and eleven busy grandchildren.
Mary is a registered nurse working at the Good Samaritan Society of De Smet. In her free time she enjoys music, flowers, playing the piano, and art especially loving watercolor painting. She has created many paintings for family and friends over the years. She also enjoys growing flowers on the farm often sharing them with her residents.
An artist at heart Mary has enjoys the creative vibe that emanates from the annual "Painting On the Prairie" event. She joined the Harvey Dunn Board in 2021 and is currently serving as the secretary. Mary and Roger were also instrumental in restoring the Dow Cemetery of rural Manchester near Red Stone Creek and birthplace of Harvey Dunn. This small graveyard site was believed to be the inspiration for Dunn's "The Resurrection and the Life" painting.
