Thursday, Aug 8


  • On site registration starts 8 AM and continues through 4 PM at the Ingalls Homestead  porch. This is also where you'll get your event canvases stamped. 

  • Head out to paint!

  • Consider a trip to the South Dakota Art  Museum to view some of their Harvey Dunn holdings on display.

  • Keep your eyes open for our artists spread across the countryside.

  • Check out the SDAM (as above) and De Smet's Harvey Dunn related sites including 5 Dunn original works hanging in our local library and the Dunn school building just north of the library. 


Friday, August 9

  • Registration continues, 8-4, at the Ingalls Homestead porch.  

  • Don't forget to register for our new Quick Draw event, 10-noon to take place in downtown De Smet

  • ARTISTS:  Meet and greet welcome reception hosted by the HDS Board Friday from 5-7 held at the LIW Surveyor's House. 


Saturday, Aug 10

  • Free youth workshop to be held on the Ingalls Homestead Porch.

  • Period costume painting en plein air, click below for details.  

  • ARTISTS: Today is capped off with a friends old and new as we gather on the Homestead Porch for a dinner served by the HDS Board.  (Please pre-register for this).  Our fiddlers will be back in 2024 to liven up the prairie prior to our meal!

Come and celebrate!

EVERYONE is welcome and encouraged to attend the Wet Sale and appreciate all the spectacular beauty of the area through the artist's eyes. Many pieces will be available for purchase and awards will be announced. 


Artists' Schedule

  • 8-3: Registration and canvas stamping on porch of Ingalls Homestead

  • 6 PM:  Group Plein Air painting in the evening. Two site options available: Lake Osceola and the Remembrance Gardens at the De Smet cemetery. Meet and car pool at the event center parking lot.

  • 8-4: Registration/canvas stamping - Ingalls Homestead porch  

  • 10 M-Noon: Quick Draw event in downtown De Smet. Meet at the library by 9:45 for instructions.  

  • Artists' Reception hosted by Harvey Dunn Society Board. This will be held at the Laura Ingalls Wilder Society Surveyor's House at 105 Olivet in De Smet. 

  • 8-Noon:  Registration/canvas stamping - Homestead porch  

  • 10 -12:  Live model wearing period dress painting - en plein air 

  • 1- 2:  Youth workshop

  • 6 PM:  Artists' Dinner on Homestead Porch hosted by Harvey Dunn Society Board.  Fiddle music entertainment!

Sunday, August 11

  • 8-10:  Artists set up for Wet Sale at the Event Center.  Table and 2 chairs will be provided. Please bring your own easel. 

  • 10-2:  Wet sale open to public. Please see details regarding sales here.  
  • 2 PM:  Announcement of award winners. 

  • Display take down and Good-bye until next year!
